This commercial is great hahaha. I really like Hugh Jackman as an actor and this commercial is perfect. I'm buying a Lipton Iced Tea right now!!!


Hugh Jackman is like 6'2" - 6'3" and he is a great dancer. I've seen some of his videos and he can follow choreography very well. This commercial was shot in Japan and you can see he was the tallest and biggest dude there. I also like the music, makes me want to dance hahaha.

One FC - Belingon vs Imanari

I personally think Filipinos are good in MMA and that this sport is the quickest developing sport in the world. It will not be a wonder if MMA would surpass boxing in terms of popularity one day.

As a man from Baguio City, I personally know Cordillerans to be tough. Astig ang mga Cordilleran and that they really do well in contact sports. It's a good thing there's MMA to serve as an outlet and a base to showcase Pinoys' fighting skills. Here they can do what they love doing plus get paid big for it.


In this One FC fight, a Cordilleran fighter - Keving Belingon entered the ring to face the much talented Masakazu Imanari from Japan. The Japanese is 36 years old but is very dangerous on the ground. He held notable victories over UFC veteran Jorge Gurjel and Mike Brown. The Filipino should have never engaged the Japanese on the ground and instead should have used his advantage in the striking department. Belingon was younger and faster and was at that point the better striker in my opinion but instead fell in a trap set by the Japanese. In a matter of few minutes the battle was over and the Japanese won via leg lock submitting Belingon. Kevin Belingon has a bright future ahead of him in this sport but must capitalize on his advantages and gain more experience.

Edward Folayang vs Ole Laursen

Edward Folayang and Ole Laursen of the Philippines faced off in this exciting and very entertaining fight. It was a hard fought 3 rounds and both fighters were exhausted. One FC has many talented fighters and i hope they succeed in promoting MMA as a sport in every corner of Asia.

In this bout, both athletes have lots of expectations upon them. People regard them as men on top of their games and that this fight would wind up as the highlight of the event. It was a shame both men come from the Philippines and fans were divided who to cheer for.


Opening the first round, both fighters were immediately game in exchanging punches and kicks. Edward Folayang threw leg kicks, especially those inside leg kicks which can maim a fighter in the latter rounds. Ole Laursen made good right hands that landed on Folayang's face and body. It was really an even match up and winning depended on who was more aggressive. In the end, judges saw Laursen as the fighter who kept pushing thus earning the win. Many fight fans however feel Folayang threw more and hit more and he should have won. I personally think it was a great fight worthy of the hype and that a rematch should be made to establish closure.

UFC 142 was trully amazing!!! The arena was filled with energy, even in TV you'd hear the crowd chant and they were so loud. Brazilians are very passionate with MMA. They are totally supportive to Brazilian athletes as well as the sport.

Edson Barbosa's (Brazil) spinning head kick on Terry Etim (United Kingdom) was really sick. It was the first ever spinning heel kick in the head that delivered a knock out in the UFC. Etim was out even before he hit the canvass. 

Prior to the stoppage, Terry Etim was doing good especially in the first round coming on strong against Edson Barbosa. Barbosa then hit Etim with powerful kicks that slowed Etim down.



Both Edson Barbosa and Terry Etim received fight of the night honors and recieved $65,000. Knock out of the night belonged to Brazil's Barbosa.




2. Vitor Belfort VS Anthony Johnson








Anthony " Rumble" Johnson didn't make weight, first and foremost. That meant significant disadvantage for Vitor "Phenom" Belfort in terms of size. Supposed to weight at 185, Anthony "Rumble" Johnson came at about 195 lbs at weight in and dwarfed Vitor Belfort in appearance.


At fight night, Vitor Belfort was fighting a gorilla! Rumble Johnson was huge and throwing powerful punches. Vitor Belfort and Rumble Johnson engaged everywhere in the octagon. The crowd was loud and excited as both fighters swung and kicked trying to rip each other's heads off. As round one was coming to a close, Vitor Belfort manged to get Anthony Johnson to the ground and was at a good position to do some damage. Belfort slipped an arm around Rumble Johnson's neck while his legs secured the body. Vitor submitted Rumble giving Johnson his first loss as a middle weight.

The main event of UFC 142 showcased the skills of the UFC 145 champ Jose Aldo. Aldo was very well rounded throwing combinations, power kicks and a knee that eventually ended the fight. Chad Mendez, a strong and skilled wrestler was undefeated prior to the bout. He tried very hard to take the champion down and and succeeded only for one brief moment. Chad Mendez had Jose Aldo's back against the fence with the final minutes winding down. Aldo then spun around and created space. In a split of a second, Jose Aldo kneed Mendez right in the jaw which dropped him. Aldo then followed up with a barrage of punches prompting the referee to stop the fight.


Aldo retained his UFC featherweight belt and is most definitely up there with the best pound for pound fighters in the world.

Pizza na loaf bread / loaf bread pizza

I remember doing this in college. My friends and cousins didn't want to spend much on pizza or any mirienda so we just made these instead. Mamir miraot kami gamin ya.

Last week, I discovered we still had most ingredients to make spaghetti except for ground meat. We had Hunt's Spaghetti Sauces, Kraft Eden Cheese... I was wondering if we should keep it for another occasion or just use it now as I was in the mood to experiment with food. Well, I was looking in the fridge and all that's there were leftovers, I decided to be creative and just throw things up and make an economical version of a pizza. I know most of you have probably done this before and I post this now so you can give me pointers on how to make an even more delicious version of a pizza. Well here it is:

Loaf Bread Pizza 

Ingredients:

Loaf of bread

1 packs of Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce

Kraft Eden Cheese

1 large onion cut in rings

1/2 clove of garlic minced

bell pepper cut in small pieces

salt

Knorr cubes ( beef would be better)

Left over meats cut into small pieces (hot dogs, sausages, ham, giniling kung meron)

cooking oil

Procedure:

Saute some onion and garlic in cooking oil in low fire.When you smell that delicious ginisa smell, pour in Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce. Simmer for a few minutes with constant stirring. I like Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce because it's affordable and it's tastier. 

When the sauce is ready, apply it over the loaves of bread.

Top with grated Kraft Eden Cheese, onion rings, bell pepper and left over meat (of course the meat has been cooked previously). 

Place inside a microwave or any oven toaster. Set it on low just enough to brown the bread and melt the cheese. (I like it when the bread is not that toasted, though a crispy toasted bread will be just as delicious). There you go, loaf bread pizza!

Volunteering in Community Health Nursing

Like most other fresh graduates of Nursing here in the Philippines, I got stuck doing nothing. Unemployment rate among nurses is so high that even volunteering in hospitals seems so difficult. Our hospitals are stacked with volunteers and there’s no room for new nurses to practice and gain confidence.

Continuously looking for places to experience being a nurse, I joined our local health department with its program of eliminating measles. I rendered my services for free and for a month enjoyed being a health worker like I never experienced before. The Measles Rubella- Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) is a program of the Department of Health aimed to eradicate Measles from the country. In Baguio City, it is more popularly called “Iligtas sa Tigdas ang Pinas”. I and over a hundred nurse volunteers joined this event working hand in hand with the City’s Health Department to ensure a measles free Baguio.

The nationwide Measles Rubella- Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) / Iligtas sa Tigdas ang Pinas was held on April 4 – May4 2011. We were not compensated for our services but the experience was the reward itself.

Community nursing is a field of nursing which involves working with individuals, groups and families. It means going directly to people’s homes, centers and shelters to provide nursing care. Being a community nurse is not so popular among nurses because it is indeed tiring physically and mentally. Community nursing however challenging it is, is fulfilling, (I surely felt so) knowing that I went directly to homes and promoted health is an experience I’ll always be proud of. I certainly would want to be a community nurse if given the chance.

When children are not at home as is in this picture, vaccination should be done under a shade for sunlight affects the vaccine's potency.
